23 Oct 2012 ~ Tues {cartwheel moments}

Background:  On September 28th, the day Uncle Sonny died, Marc was out of town. That evening Witt and I drove to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to play taxi.  We waited next to a mom and her two young daughters; they had posters and were anticipating the arrival of an US Airman from Afghanistan -- also known as DADDY.  Witt played with the 3yr old and the toddler, who was just months old when Daddy left.  Quite a few Patriots waited with us in anticipation of this homecoming and burst into applause at his arrival.  I snapped shots with my camera and emailed them to this family;  Witt had my phone and snapped three shots (one self-portait) and two of the reunion.

Reflections Contest: The PTSA's theme this year is "The Magic of a Moment."  We got home and I looked at the moments Witt snapped and giggled.  Below you will find the picture we submitted to his school's contest; it is innocent and spontaneous.

Update:  Today we learned that Witt's photo won at the school kindergarten level and has moved to the county competition.  We are tickled!   The mom/wife we met at the airport has been supportive and is completing a Consent Form;  Daddy is still on leave and they are enjoying the family time.  Tonight in honor of this milestone I did a cartwheel in the front yard -- what a memory!  {Many thanks to Mrs. Bonnie Frazier for patiently teaching me to perform a cartwheel in her backyard when the Fraziers were our neighbors in the 70s!  It's been two decades and like riding a bike --- I can still do it! Hooray!}
